The township zoning inspector is the primary administrative official responsible for enforcing the local zoning resolution as established by the board of trustees. Their central duty involves reviewing applications for zoning permits to ensure that proposed buildings, land uses, or structural alterations comply with specific regulations regarding setbacks, lot sizes, and property usage. By conducting on-site inspections and maintaining detailed records of permits issued or denied, the inspector ensures that community growth adheres to the township’s comprehensive plan and legal standards.

Beyond permit review, the zoning inspector serves as the first point of contact for investigating potential zoning violations and responding to community complaints. When a property is found to be in non-compliance, the inspector has the authority to issue notices of violation and, if necessary, initiate legal action to ensure the issue is corrected. They also play a vital role in the public process by providing technical assistance to the Township Zoning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals, often testifying or presenting facts during hearings for variances, conditional use permits, or map amendments.
